Good and free antivirus programs do exist!!! However, Avast and Avg, established in the South American market, no longer meet current needs.
To give you an idea, Avast Professional occupies the 13th position in the antivirus performance ranking, followed by AVG in 14th place, widely used because it works on older machines.

To download it, you need a valid email address, go to the website http://www.activevirusshield.com/, click on Free Antivirus Today, enter your email, proceed, and download the antivirus.
The installation is simple; the only secret is that you will need an Activation Code, which will be sent to your email. So, while downloading the 13.9 MB installation file, go to your email, copy the received code, and paste it when prompted by the installation program.
Many people forget, so I will remind you. You must uninstall the previous antivirus program from your computer. And if you suspect viruses, you will be alerted, and it will be necessary to restart your computer a few times, as existing viruses can only be deleted during the pre-boot process.
