In November 2010, when the [[National Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office]] began to count, there were already 2,452 homicides still in the investigation phase. By yesterday evening, May 10, 2011, this number had reached 6,500 stalled homicide investigations in Goiás state police stations. This information was provided by the Council in a report published in the [[Jornal Diário da Manhã]].
It is important to highlight that we are not talking about cases stalled in the judiciary here; we are talking about crimes that have never left the police stations. Many are cases of women murdered with extreme cruelty, and of fathers murdered on their way home from work.
People live thinking this will never happen to them, that 'John was executed because he was a criminal,' but it is getting closer and closer.
