Mariele de Lima Correa will never forget January 22nd. Not only because it was the day she married municipal guard Gláucio Correa, but also because, minutes before entering the church, dressed, with her hair done, jewelry, and bouquet, she was kidnapped.
The 28-year-old Pedagogy student was awaiting the start of the wedding, at 8:30 PM, in a Tucson pickup truck. The car was stopped on a street next to the Sagrada Família Church, in the Novo Mundo neighborhood, southern region of Curitiba. With her were a couple of friends and one of the bridesmaids, who was 10 years old. Two robbers approached the vehicle, and when they saw it was occupied, one of them pulled out a revolver and made threats. No one could leave: Mariele sat in the front seat between the two criminals, with the other victims in the back.
As they drove through the streets of Curitiba, the thieves made threats and asked the little bridesmaid to stop crying. Mariele pleaded to be released, as it was her wedding day. "Your fiancé is already a widower," one of the criminals replied. They took their cell phones, removed the batteries, and damaged the SIM cards. Finally, they took the bouquet and threw it out the car window.
After about 20 minutes, Mariele, her friend, and the child were left 10 kilometers from the church, near the campus of the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUC-PR), in the Prado Velho neighborhood. The student called her fiancé, who didn't believe the story. "I told my mother: they're here nearby and they're playing a prank," said Gláucio, also 28 years old.
He tried calling his fiancée's and friends' cell phones, but the calls only went to voicemail. Only after returning the calls to the numbers his fiancée had called from and hearing the police radio in the background did he believe her.
“I was already prepared for a slight delay, when they called me saying she had been kidnapped, I hung up thinking it was a joke. I told her: stop with this prank, don't bother me with this now,” said the groom.
Mariele's friend remained with the bandits for a while longer and was left in a more distant location. She saw a police car, recounted what had happened, and went with the officers to pick up the other victims.
Ceremony. The bride arrived by taxi at the church door where the approximately 400 guests were still waiting outside. She decided to proceed with the ceremony even after the flash kidnapping. Her dress was intact, but she had to borrow earrings, rings, a necklace, and a bracelet, as the ones she was wearing had been taken by the robbers. Some flowers from the church decorations were turned into a bouquet. "When she arrived, she was a bit tearful, but then everything was calm," said Gláucio.

Around 11 PM, a Civil Police team located the truck and saw two people get out. There was a chase, but the two managed to escape. The bandits took the car's radio faceplate and a child's car seat that was in the trunk.
Security. The secretary of the Sagrada Família Parish said yesterday that, after this incident, the parish council held a meeting and decided to collect signatures to request increased policing in the area, as several robberies have already occurred there. About 400 signatures were collected. The idea is to present the request to the Military Police command.

Mariele de Lima Correa nunca vai se esquecer do dia 22 de janeiro. Não só porque foi a data em que se casou com o guarda municipal Gláucio Correa, mas também porque, minutos antes de entrar na igreja, com vestido, cabelo feito, joias e buquê, foi sequestrada.
A estudante de Pedagogia de 28 anos esperava o começo do casamento, às 20h30, em uma picape Tucson. O carro estava parado em uma rua ao lado da Igreja Sagrada Família, no bairro Novo Mundo, região sul de Curitiba. Com ela estavam um casal de amigos e uma das damas de cerimônia, de 10 anos. Dois assaltantes se aproximaram do veículo e, quando viram que ele estava ocupado, um deles sacou um revólver e fez ameaças. Ninguém pôde sair: Mariele ficou no banco da frente entre os dois bandidos e as outras vítimas, no de trás.
Enquanto percorriam as ruas de Curitiba, os ladrões fizeram ameaças e pediram que a daminha de honra parasse de chorar. Mariele pedia para ser liberada, já que era o dia de seu casamento. "Seu noivo já está viúvo", respondeu um dos criminosos. Eles pegaram os celulares, tiraram as baterias e danificaram os chips. Por fim, pegaram o buquê e jogaram pela janela do carro.
Depois de cerca de 20 minutos, Mariele, o amigo e a criança foram deixados a 10 quilômetros da igreja, perto do câmpus da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (PUC-PR), no bairro Prado Velho. A estudante ligou para o noivo, que não acreditou na história. "Falei para minha mãe: eles estão aqui perto e estão passando trote", disse Gláucio, também de 28 anos.
Ele tentou ligar nos celulares da noiva e dos amigos, mas as ligações só caíam na caixa postal. Só depois de retornar os telefonemas para os números dos quais a noiva tinha ligado e ouvir o barulho do rádio da polícia ele acreditou.
“Eu já estava preparado para um pouco de atraso, quando me ligaram dizendo que ela tinha sido sequestrada, eu desliguei pensado que fosse brincadeira. Falei para ela: para com esse trote, não me venha com isso agora”, disse o noivo.
A amiga de Mariele ficou mais um tempo em poder dos bandidos e foi deixada em um local mais distante. Ela viu um carro da polícia, contou o que havia acontecido, e foi com os policiais buscar as outras vítimas.
Cerimônia. A noiva chegou em um táxi à porta da igreja onde os cerca de 400 convidados ainda aguardavam do lado de fora. Resolveu continuar a cerimônia mesmo depois do sequestro relâmpago. O vestido estava intacto, mas ela precisou pegar emprestados brincos, anéis, colar e pulseira, pois os que usava foram levados pelos assaltantes. Algumas flores do enfeite da igreja transformaram-se no buquê. "Quando chegou estava meio chorando, mas depois foi tudo tranquilo", disse Gláucio.

Por volta das 23 horas, uma equipe da Polícia Civil localizou a caminhonete e viu quando duas pessoas desceram. Houve perseguição, mas os dois conseguiram fugir. Os bandidos levaram a frente do rádio do carro e uma cadeira de criança que estava no porta-malas.
Segurança. A secretária da Paróquia Sagrada Família disse ontem que, após essa ocorrência, houve reunião do conselho paroquial e decidiu-se realizar uma coleta de assinaturas para pedir reforço no policiamento na região, porque já foram registrados vários assaltos ali. Cerca de 400 assinaturas foram colhidas. A ideia é apresentar o pedido para o comando da Polícia Militar.
